BSA Year 2

 BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we are doing one on ones with the tutors. I didnt really tak about much and used the time to finish my drawing proposal.

 BSA 3D Hi! Today we are continuing catch up on my Maya modeling.    I managed to get part of the arm in but that was about it.

 BSA Drawing Hi! Today we are working on our proposal which is due on friday. I have already drawn rough thumbnails,  and a draft cover.  I then wrote up my story and dialogue.

 BSA 3D Hi! Today I will be catching up in 3D modeling my character.  to add an image create a plane, assign a favorite material- blinn. select the checkered square next to colour, select file, and select the image that is saved in source images, then select the checkered circle on the task bar. To set up a project just go file- project window, and then select the location and name it. We then started modeling hands for our charcaters. My character originally didn't have hands but if im going to model them anyway they may make some actions more helpful.  spacebar- 4 view We then started working on modeling the character

 BSA Audio Hi!  Today we were meant to have our soundscape finished. I could not work on it at all as I was in isolation at home and I was unable to download Pro Tools to my laptop.  We started looking at mixers which was interesting but I struggled a bit since I didn't know how to open the mixer window, and had no sounds. Once I figured out how to import my video, things started to go a lot better. I managed to get a good start on my soundscape and I'm pretty happy with my work so far.

 BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we presented our assignment. I think it went really well. We managed to get our PowerPoint finished the night before and had some time to clean up the presentations. The only issue was that Sophie did not contribute any work (Mood board) to the PowerPoint despite responding to messages. I checked in with everyone beforehand and answered any minor questions. I think I could have done the event timeline earlier and be more prepared. I think we communicated really well, asking questions on the teams, contributing work, and reaching out between each other.  One thing I think I could improve on was enforcing deadlines, as I wasn't very assertive over my ask that everyone has their piece in by Saturday and anyone had to message me if they wouldn't. I am happy that everyone got it in by Sunday though. 

 BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we got into groups for our final round of mock proposals. We started off by giving advice for each of the roles before being put into groups. I was assigned Event Coordinator for my group. This was one of the roles I put down as not wanting as it is a lot of pressure. I also don't really know what to do for this role other than try to keep my team on task. I will try my best but find it very difficult to be assertive and lead. We came up with a basic plan for our event and I then set up the powerpoint for the group.

 BSA 3D Hi! Today we went over more Maya however I still could not work so I continued work on my 2D shots.

 BSA Drawing Hi! We continued live drawing. We had 10 minutes for each drawing. We started with drawing mannequins realistically. The angles really helped me practice perspective. We then used poses to draw stylized characters. We then had to submit a character for someone else to draw in their style. I chose Lani from my last year film. We then drew our character in their style. I was given Eilish's character.

 BSA 3D Hi! This week I am in isolation due to a household case of covid.  Because of this I wont be able to work in Maya at all as my computer is not powerful enough to handle it.  I am a bit worried about getting behind because of this as I don't know a lot about Maya. I then started working on the 2D shots for my animation. I started with the peephole shot as that is the main shot I want to be hand painted. I was a bit worried about the image being too dark or unrecognizable. I would also like to make it more unsettling somehow. However I think its a good first draft.

 BSA Audio Hi! Today we are meant to be working on our soundscapes on pro tools but I am currently at home in isolation. I tried to download pro tools multiple times but it did not actually download. Joe emailed me asking me to start looking for sounds. I asked if he had any particular place he wanted us to get them from but he is yet to respond.  BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we presented our pitches.  I think our team went really well. Getting together on Friday to study together in person really helped us collaborate and make sure we were on the same page. We came up with some really good ideas that we could realistically do. I think we left our scope a little broad but I think its fine. We communicated well and had our PowerPoint done in record time. Jessica was a really good leader and made sure everyone was coordinated. Despite having half the team away we still managed to have a fantastic presentation. I feel a little bad about not being there in person but of course couldn't be due to isolation. This proposal went a lot better than the last one and at no point was I worried about it.  Finance was a bit difficult for me as I struggle with maths but I feel like I did a good job of budgeting our project. 

 BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we are starting the next group pitch.  We then gave feedback on each of our roles as advice for the next teams. I did not have much to say about marketing other then continue communicating with everyone.  We then got together and pitched ideas for our project. We came up with a really good set of ideas and started off very strong. Everyone was very collaborative and came up with some awesome stuff. Jessica was a fantastic leader and Dan and Zac gave some great contributions. 

 BSA 3D Hi! I finished up my proposal, and worked on a drawing for it. I just need to now add some lines to the collar and the title. I then finished my proposal and handed in. I feel pretty good about the written and developmental parts of my proposal. I am a bit worried my themed background will not come across due to the subtlety of the images. I also went back and forth about grey scaling my storyboard but didn't end up doing it. Overall I think my proposal covered everything I needed to cover but could have been better.

 BSA Drawing Hi! Today we are live drawing in the church. We had 10-15 minutes for each drawing. We started with some drawing warmups which I did terribly before doing some drawings of a boar skull. I was actually pretty happy with these drawings. We then drew some people in a couple poses, and a skeleton in realism and then stylised. I chose to do an angular style. The full body skeleton was definitly my worst drawing due to the terrible proportions.

 BSA 3D Hi! Today i'm continuing work on my proposal. I pretty much finished my write up and proposal. Next class I will ask Chris to look over it for anything that needs to be added. 

 BSA Audio Hi! Today we presented out presentation. I feel like I repeated myself a lot and ended up looping my statements. Other than that I feel like I got across everything I wanted to say. I feel like I could have included more refrences as I had read a few articles and watched an interview with the director but did not put these into my presentation as I did not have any information relevant from them on the slide. Joe also mentioned that a presentation should have less information on the slides instead of typing it up like a report.  We then hopped onto pro tools for the first time. We didn't get very far due to technical issues. It was quite complicated and relies a lot on shortcuts which I struggle to remember. The sheet was very helpful and it was fun to use but there are lots of little settings, lots of knowledge, and technical issues that held me back. 

 BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we presented our group pitch to the class. I felt like everyone else in my team rushed the proposal as they only contributed to the chat and powerpoint the night before. This made me very anxious about our proposal getting done, considering I had barely heard from anyone other than Eyessa. I feel like we needed people to actually respond to the chat so that we could better communicate and make sure everyone was contributing. It would have also been helpful for things like budget and timeline if we could go over it with other people. Also with groups of two such as marketing and design, we really need to be able to communicate better. I will admit I could have reached out earlier, but in the end I was the only one to write on the slides, and my partner only contributed to the physical presentation.  BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Today we are starting to get into groups for our pitch. We received a pitch and templates for a PowerPoint presentation and documentation. We only have until Monday to create a pitch. Out timeline for the fake event is the same as our final event for this semester. We have about 8 weeks for the fake event to happen in. Budget is 1000 dollars.  We were then put into groups. I was put into the marketing team. We then spitball ideas and I continued the rest at home. 

 BSA 3D Hi! Today I started putting together my proposal. I did a basic background with some spooky drawings in low opacity to mimic my inspiration, The Mandela Catalogue.

 BSA Drawing Hi! Outside of class I started on a self portrait for my bio. I wanted to try and match the style but I haven't determined a specific style yet. I then drew myself with one of the characters helmets and a undersuit as I originally wanted to draw myself in one of the suits but I don't have a finalised design yet.

 BSA 3D Hi! Today I worked on putting my storyboard into ToonBoom Storyboard.  Outside of class I also finished the turnaround and poses, however I think I need to change the pose into a Tpose. I still havent decided which colour palette to choose so I have temporarily coloured in my first palette.

 BSA Audio Hi! I worked on finding a clip for my audio presentation outside of class. I originally wanted to do a clip from Arcane as I felt it had lots of great quiet moments. The first clip I thought of was the scene of Viktor running, however that scene is only 40 seconds and also has a shout. I then debated doing a scene of several of the characters walking through a city but it felt like there was too many things to keep track of and it would have been too difficult. I then looked at the movie The Third Man but most of the scenes were too long. I then looked into Blade Runner, Night of the living Dead, and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari but finally (temporarily) settled on the museum fight between Ares and John Wick from John Wick 2. I later changed to the painting scene from The Half of It after deciding that a fight scene would be quite difficult.  Whiplash short film.  The sound going from loud to quiet.  BSA Cross Disciplinary Hi! Marketing. Promotion and public relations are crucial to an event. You need to bring in people to have an event. Ensure that people are going to attend. People have limited time and money so make sure the event is worth it and prove it to the people so they come to the event. Target Market. Figure out how to influence them to attend based on who they are. You also need to market to volunteers and sponsors too.  Expertiential Marketing. Make a memorable moment to get people to go to the event. Create connections to the audience.  Encouraging fun and participation will help people remember the event.  What marketing do I remember? - E.g Ghost Chips ad.  I wrote about the League of Legends ads.  You can also use psychographics when appealing to a target market, e.g their personality, interests, and beliefs.  Look at what is motivating that audience to go, e.g cheap, looked fun, one time thing, friends are going, etc. Make sure ...
